A word that goes on
Such things happen sometimes in the case of a foreign Korean branch that is not very large. JD (Job description) states that '5 years or more of experience' or '15 years or more of experience' is required for the recruiter.
1. If there is a difference between JD (Job description) and actual job search experience
Usually, a small foreign company doesn't have a separate human resources department in Korea, so HQ (foreign headquarters) or AP headquarters (Asia Pacific headquarters) often make them and distribute them by changing the name of the country in each country. As a result, the Korean office that employs real people sometimes looks for someone much younger or more than the official document. In that case, the Korean hiring manager talks verbally about the career conditions they want over the phone.
2. the hassle of working with a document
According to the rules, this JD is an official document, so the domestic recruitment manager cannot change it arbitrarily. Of course, it can be changed, but there are some annoying processes and procedures that need to be done, so it is common to just talk to the headhunter in words and tell them to just write the document.
Of course, I'm a person who is obligated to use what the customer gives me, so if I send a JD (job description) to a candidate with 15 years of experience and explain it in words, most of them will understand me well, saying, "Oh, really?"
3. People who don't trust the headhunters
But as you proceed like that, sometimes some people don't trust me? Do you not understand me? Do you not listen to me in the first place? "Why are you introducing yourself to a junior position or a senior position that doesn't even fit your career? Please introduce yourself to a senior position.!" There is also a case where they get angry first.
If this happens, there is nothing I can do but tell you the truth. Nevertheless, if you continue to feel "weird" or "unbelievable" until the end, I just give up. There's nothing I can do about it.
4. New Venture Firms Start Up JD (Job Description)
Among the new domestic ventures that are starting, when I asked for JD (Job description) during an initial meeting, I said, "There's nothing like that. Oh, there should be something like that!" There are people who say, "Frequently." There are many things to prepare, and it's a company that doesn't have many people even though there are a lot of things to do.
And sometimes they ask me, "Can you make a JD for each position?" It's kind of ridiculous, actually, but it doesn't have to be a "no" for young people to work hard, so I do drafts one by one. It's not really that difficult for me.
5. Conclusion
If your headhunter is suspicious, you can just say "busy" in a nice way or "no intention to move" and stop calling. I don't think there's any reason why you're going to say "I can't believe it" or "It's weird" when you're listening to everything.
