A word that goes in
In the past, when you were asked to position by a recruiting client, please recommend "Sky Scapo" only. Or, "You can only recommend it in the top 100, but it's for review at least 50." I've heard it quite often, and I didn't have much resistance to it either..
However, it's already an old story, and a few years ago, as "venture myths, unicorn myths" broke out here and there, words like "destruction of academic backgrounds regardless of academic background" became common, and as such phrases became common in JD (job descriptions), the words above are almost impossible to hear.
1. There is still academic discrimination.
But today! 21st century, July 2024, I heard that. Request to recommend "four-year system in the Seoul metropolitan area and local universities up to national universities." The requestor was a person in charge of human resources at a large company. (30s, probably not his opinion)
Well, I don't know if the academic background of an experienced employee is that important. (Sales in particular), of course, I do what the customer tells me to do. Of course, I should, but I don't know if it's really the right thing to do to simply block the window itself to submit a resume before I can look into the process and outcome of the last decade or so of someone with more than a decade of experience cutting bones and flesh.
I don't think it's something I'm good at! (My opinion isn't important ㅜ.ㅜ)
2. Headhunters' academic search
When headhunters search for areas they don't have insight into, "academic search" is the most common way. If you don't have a deep knowledge of the field, you can look closely at several resumes and recommend candidates for academic excellence. (You can send out all the resumes you get, but if you're wrong, you'll have to filter out good resumes because you'll get negative responses from customers, "Why do I use the headhunter that I'm looking for?").
In fact, this is the least professional type of search for experienced workers. But I said, "What should I do? I'll do it because the customer wants it." Actually, the easiest and simplest type of search is called "academic search." Competition is very severe.
However, it is a little sad that this method of lining up the whole nation in a line with only high school grades is still widely used.
3. Conclusion
Let's break down the "localism academicism!" Work and study are one thing. It is unwise to consider simply "what school did you graduate from?" over someone's experience and accomplishment over the last decade or so.
