A word that goes on

Sometimes people ask me to have an English interview. It won't be a big problem for those who are good at English, so this is for those who are not very good at English.

1. Can't hide English skills.

In the end, it is impossible to conceal your English skills no matter how hard you try. This means that when you've prepared as much, you need to feel at ease and have the guts to get out of things like, "Hopefully things will go." Somehow, trying to look a little better will ruin things even more. Even if you don't have much skills, you end up failing after trying to show them properly.

2. Just focus on communication

There was once a time when phonics became popular in the English study market. It is to learn English pronunciation. If my pronunciation was not like an American or an Englishman, I used to say that I was embarrassed even if I was pretty good at English. However, that is completely wrong. Many people say that short sentences are embarrassing and that you have to speak in a flexible long sentence to be good at English. However, this is also meaningless.

All that matters is communication. In particular, business English doesn't have to be pronounced well, and no one thinks anything bad about it if you put the keywords in the right order. All he has to do is get the message across. Neither do we. No one thinks a foreigner is "not good enough" because he speaks Korean a little weird. Neither do they.

3. Prepare an expected question, prepare an answer in a script, and memorize it

Interviews are just interviews anyway. Most of the questions asked are obvious. For example, "Why did you apply for our company?" or "Explain your experiences and skills." You can answer those questions well if you script them in advance and memorize them hard.

There are, of course, unexpected questions. These are career-related general questions, such as "When was your happiest moment in your life?" and "What was your most impressive book you read?" What matters in those situations is courage and guts. Answer boldly. Just smile and be confident, even if you can answer a question that is just a few keywords.

4. In the online interview, you can read what you have written.

Nowadays, there are many 'non-face-to-face' online interviews in the case of pre-interviews and first meetings in the HR department. In this case, you can read the script mentioned above while reading it little by little. If the question changes little by little, it is much easier because you can answer it calmly by applying the answers written according to it.

5. Once you join the company, the English problem is solved automatically.

Interviews are interviews, but if you don't speak English, you may be concerned, "How do I get in and do this?" But don't worry about that. No matter how bad you are, when you are assigned to an essential English job, you will most likely learn "English" within a "three-month period" or so with little trouble completing the task. This is because "need" gives rise to "effort."

At first, the other party will "understand" you little by little. Then, you will see yourself doing your job without any major problems if you send an e-mail in advance to answer the questions that always come up and read them during the phone conversation, or record the other person's phone call and hang up and try to "write" your questions hard.

And studying English, which is essential right now, is not difficult, and no one tells me to do it, but I return it on weekends and work hard without sleeping at night. Because I have to work. But when I can handle the 'work' well, my 'English' doesn't improve anymore. I can't do 'effort' because it's hard. So, it almost increases to 'automatic' until it's necessary. So you don't have to give up 'challenge' because of that.

6. Conclusion

(1) When a recruiter asks for an "English interview," first say, "Give me some time to prepare," and then, with the time you get, "Make expected questions and answers, memorize them hard," and when you go to an interview, answer boldly with the feeling that "I can't do it even if I get it wrong."

(2) Don't give up your 'challenge' in advance because you need English for what you do after joining the company.
